Quick answer

Extreme Motus partnered with the nonprofit Ainsley’s Angels of America to manufacture a custom pink edition of the all-terrain wheelchair — “The Ainsley.” It’s the same lightweight, water-floating, trail-ready chair Sam and I use, with the Ainsley’s Angels logo stitched into the headrest. Order direct from the nonprofit at store-ainsleysangels.org; chairs ship fully assembled, usually within a week.

What’s with those pink Extreme Motus all-terrain wheelchairs?

You may have seen photos circulating online of pink Extreme Motus wheelchairs. Our standard colors are red and blue — the pink version is something special.

The nonprofit Ainsley’s Angels of America is famous for taking riders out on the road for marathons and endurance events — but their team saw a future on the trails too. We’re proud to announce that through a partnership with Ainsley’s Angels we’re now manufacturing a pink edition of the Motus, and we’re calling it “The Ainsley.”

It’s the same lightweight, durable, trail-ready chair Sam and I use on every adventure — just dressed in pink, with the Ainsley’s Angels logo stitched into the headrest.

Sam insisted on wearing his pink tie the first time he sat in one. It was a special occasion, and he wanted to look the part.

Who is Ainsley’s Angels?

Ainsley’s Angels of America is a nonprofit organization that builds awareness and creates inclusion for people with disabilities through running. Their mission: ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in endurance events — marathons, half marathons, triathlons — regardless of physical ability. They do it by pairing riders with volunteer “wing runners” who push them in adaptive racing chairs.

The organization was founded in 2008 by Major Kim “Rooster” Rossiter, inspired by his daughter Ainsley. Ainsley was diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), a rare terminal illness that affects the central nervous system. Despite her condition, Ainsley loved being active and being part of her community. Her dad built that spirit into a national movement.

Their 2023 impact video below captures the scale of what they pulled off across the country:

The first pink Motus on the trail

The first chair we sent to Ainsley’s Angels went to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where rider Sean Lewis got to be the test pilot at Lubell Park — a 40-acre park with walking, jogging, and biking trails plus playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields. It’s a great proving ground.

It was so fun to see his videos and read his report on how much he enjoyed the chair:

“This chair is an Extreme Motus and designed for trail running and IT IS AWESOME!!!!! Johnny Williams and I have talked about what kind of chair someone like me would need to do this and he’d been researching. He found this one and together he and Jana got it for our chapter. Guess who got to try out that baby for the first time? Yep…yours truly! 👊”

“Without me knowing exactly what we were doing… I have sneaky sneaky friends, you all. Johnny asked me if I could help him with something and to meet him at Lubell Park yesterday evening. So we met them not sure what we were doing since I knew NOTHING! 🤣 Jana and he wanted me to be the first to try it out and see what I thought. The founder, Kim ‘Rooster’ Rossiter of Ainsley’s Angels of America, was waiting to see how it went and if approved he could recommend it to our other chapters all across the United States. Well, let’s see 🤔… what do Johnny and I think about this chair? That would be a huge YES!! LET’S DO IT!!!”
