FAQs
Have a question that’s not listed below? Contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist with any inquiries you have.
What size wheelchair would you recommend?
At Extreme Motus, we offer three different sizes of all-terrain wheelchairs. The only difference between these sizes is the seat width:
- Large – 18″ wide
- Medium – 16″ wide
- Small – 14″ wide
Sam, who stars in many of our videos, uses a medium-sized wheelchair. He is approximately 5′1″ tall and weighs 85 pounds. Comparing your size to Sam’s is a great starting point.
Consider the rider’s age as well. If they are Sam’s size but still growing (e.g., a 10-year-old), it’s best to size up to a large to ensure they don’t outgrow the chair. You can add padding like blankets, towels, pool noodles, or foam to make a larger size work for smaller riders, providing peace of mind for future growth.

What is the large pannier?
The large pannier is a storage bag that hangs on the back of the seat, offering convenient storage for personal items.
Does the extra-long option increase the overall length of the chair?
The extra-long option adds 5 inches to the chair’s length when the footrest is extended. When folded for storage, the chair remains the same size.
Can I demo a chair before buying it?
Contact us using our contact form or email us. Let us know your city, and we’ll check if there are any dealers or customers nearby to arrange a Motus Meetup.
If you purchase a chair without testing it, we offer a 30-day return policy. If the chair doesn’t work for you, you can return it, but you will need to cover shipping costs both ways.
How can I get more information about your chairs?
Read our introduction article on the Extreme Motus All-Terrain Wheelchair, or contact us directly. We’re happy to answer your questions.

Can I rent a chair?

Are parking brakes optional on the Extreme Motus All-Terrain Wheelchair?
No. Every Extreme Motus wheelchair comes equipped with individual rear-wheel brakes. These brakes control speed during descents and act as parking brakes to keep the chair stationary when needed.

Can you customize the wheelchair for specific needs?
Some customers request modifications that we cannot accommodate. In Utah, we refer such requests to Dan O’Crowley at the Utah Assistive Technology Program at Utah State University. Depending on your needs, you may want to research similar programs at universities or institutions near you.
Are there any grants available to help purchase an all-terrain wheelchair?
Yes, several grants and funding opportunities can help make these wheelchairs more accessible. Explore our guide to various grants and the application process.

Are Sam and Ryan brothers?
“Is that your brother?” Along with “Are you Sam’s dad?” are the number 1 questions we are asked on social media.
We often don’t reply to these questions and comments because it would just take up too much of our time. I’ve written this article and pinned it at the top of our Facebook page. If people really want to know the answer they will need to do a little more research and it looks like you dear reader have almost found the answer. Check out our article to find your answer.
Can I donate to help Sam with his wheelchair van?
Sam already has his wheelchair-accessible van! While we appreciate your generosity, we currently don’t accept donations. However, we can provide a list of non-profits that help supply wheelchairs to those in need. Please contact us for more information.
