Before you conquer these obstacles you may need to tackle the obstacle of funding.

The grants listed below cover many different disabilities and age groups. Some accept applications all year long while others have specific windows and you must submit your application for funding during that period or end up waiting until next year to try again.

Some grants listed here are for individuals. Others can be used by organizations looking to provide all-terrain wheelchairs on-site at public parks, nature preserves, zoo’s, etc. Going through this list may feel like information overload but it will get you one step closer to obtaining a life changing piece of equipment that will open up a world of possibilities.

The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with physical disabilities participate in sports. Since its founding in 1994, CAF has raised over $178 million and awarded more than 48,000 grants to athletes with physical disabilities across 105 different sports. They provide grants for adaptive equipment, training, and competition expenses, host adaptive sports clinics, and foster an inclusive community.

CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence, and enhances the quality of life. They serve athletes in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, as well as 70 international countries, impacting over 60,000 individuals annually through their outreach programs.

There’s no age limit but, in most cases, awards are limited to a maximum of $5,000 so that we can help as many people as possible. Award applications are reviewed quarterly by our Award committee. Every applicant receives a letter advising whether they’ve been approved or not selected.

Move United

Move United is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing national leadership and opportunities for individuals with disabilities to develop independence, confidence, and fitness through participation in community sports, competition, recreation, high-performance sport, and educational programs.

Founded on firsthand life experiences, NAIDW provides unlimited resources, support, guidance, and grant-based financial aid to those affected by injury, illness, pain, disability, or death.

The Bronco Wild Fund is an initiative by Ford Motor Company, inspired by the return of the legendary Ford Bronco. The mission of the Bronco Wild Fund is to sustain the environment and connect people to the outdoors through grants, scholarships, contributions, and an extensive dealer network1. A portion of the profits from every Bronco SUV sold goes directly to initiatives that promote and preserve public lands across the country
